• In this paper, I will discuss the importance of using an evidence-based approach when researching the topic of preeclampsia. I will then explain criteria that should be considered when determining credibility of resources. Next, I will analyze the credibility of the resources, and identify the most useful resources based on this analysis. Lastly, I will explain the importance of incorporating credible evidence into an evidence-based practice model, and note specific examples of how the model could help improve care for patients diagnosed with preeclampsia. The quality and safety issue I will be discussing is preeclampsia in pregnancy. It is important to have evidence-based approaches for this diagnosis in order to provide patients with the best care possible. By using evidence-based care for patients with this diagnosis, we can be sure we are providing the most up to date and cost-effective treatment options. Criteria for determining credibility of articles and websites include first looking at what year the article was written. For evidence-based articles to contain current information they should have been written in the last five years. Another item to look at when assessing credibility is to see if the article is peer reviewed. Next, we should look at who the intended audience and if the topic is relevant to the diagnosis. According to an article written in on the Harold B lee Library website (2021) it states the following: when looking for credibility of web sites, one should look at the URL. Professional websites will end in .edu, .gov, or .org. If there are advertisements on the website, it is most likely containing less reliable information. If there are broken links or incorrect links on the website, it may be a red flag that the information is not reliable. Lastly, a person looking for credibility of information should check to see when the site was last updated (Harold B. Lee library website, 2021). Another method for finding credible information sources is to use the CRAAP method which stands for currency, reliability, authority, accuracy, and purpose (Fielding, 2019). Using these methods will make finding credible information easier
