1. What is meant by the backlash against feminism? Has your understanding of feminism changed the way you describe yourself as a result of your engagement with the course materials? If so, how? If not, why not? The backlash against feminism is the resistance towards the changes that women groups are fighting for concerning their rights. There have been many women who have come together throughout history to fight for their rights. The main reason for these groups was fighting for equal rights between men and women and equal opportunities between men and women while working in the field. There had been cases where the women were paid less than the men when doing the same work as they were considered inferior to the men. The societal norm in the early days was that the role of the woman was to get married and rear children while taking care of the house. The women were not allowed to work as the men's role was to provide for the family. When women wanted to start working it was seen as a sign of rebellion against the men and various religious beliefs.
