GEOGRAPHIC EXPRESSIONS
A comma is used to separate the name of a city from the name of the state. A comma is used to
separate the name of foreign city from the name of a country. Since the state or country is
actually an appositive modifying the city, a comma follows the state or country as well.
Example:
1. Dave will visit New Orleans, Louisiana, during the summer.
2. Our newest branch office is in Atlanta, Georgia.
3. Her next vacation will be in Paris, France.
Note: Write the above example in shorthand.
