• 1. Measurement And Significant Figures Measure each of the indicated quantities as exactly as possible. This means that you should estimate one digit beyond those gained by direct reading of the scale on the measuring device. For example, if one sees that a measured value lies about halfway between the divisions for "4" and "5" on a measuring scale, then one should report the measured value as "4.5".
