• PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION Week 1 1. Do you think the five principles of effective oral communication were followed? Elaborate your answer. Honestly, after watching the video multiple times, I still can’t figure out everything he delivered. All I remember is that the politician was just shouting aggressively so I look for the video’s transcription to read the speech and watch the video again. I don’t think the five principles of effective oral communication were followed especially the principle that stated to be natural with the delivery because he looks angry or on the verge of crying while delivering the speech. He let his emotion control the tone of his voice which makes some words of his speech unclear. He might have followed some of the effective oral communication principles but not all of them. 2. Which ones were followed? Which ones were not? Why/why not? The principles that were followed are being clear with your purpose, being complete with the message you delivered, being concise, being specific and timely with your feedback. He is clear with his purpose which is to be nominated and guarantee that he will win the election as the treasurer and complete the speech he delivered. He is also informative and specific in that short but aggressive speech and gave feedback to the audience. The one that is not followed and ruined the entire excellence and value of the message itself is the way it was delivered. You should be natural with your delivery, in his case the delivery is not natural at all because the tone of his voice sounds angry and he is shouting a lot. 3.
