The following pages are to help you complete the questions for the Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety. Please don’t copy or copy and paste your answers … use your own knowledge but use these notes for clues. Fill in your answer to each statement in the accompanying workbook and you will have completed the knowledge for your qualification. Where the answers ask for an explanation, please don’t give us a list, a couple of sentences should do it! Once you have answered all the questions, please send the document for the attention of Andy Day to info@staltd.co.uk In order for us to claim your certificate, we need: Item required: Office use only - Present Yes / No ACT Certificate First Aid training certificate Completed workbook Assessment by an assessor Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety info@staltd.co.uk 2 Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety UNIT 1 UNIT 1.1 Understand how to prepare for stewarding activities: State the legal, organisational and venue requirements covering the event you are involved in: • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974: This covers the basic Health & Safety requirements that a venue must adhere to. • The Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985: This covers the restriction of sales of alcohol at certain sports events but mainly football. • The Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975: Details the law that requires a venue to hold a Safety Certificate. • Fire Safety at Places of Sports Act 1987: Relevant fire regulations and controls that must be put in place. • Safety Certificate issued by local authority: Contains specific requirements to ensure public safety and compliance with national guidance and legislation. Individual grounds or stadiums may also have their own regulations or codes of practice. 1.1.2 Give examples of relevant guidance documents on safety at events: • PURPLE GUIDE • GREEN GUIDE • HSE HEALTH & SAFETY EXECUTIVE • STADIUM/ORGANISATION PROVIDED EVENT HANDBOOK 1.1.3 Explain the importance of the event and venue registration procedures: • So that everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency evacuation • So that the people running the event know who is present • So that the event complies with the licence requirements • So that there is a record of my worked shifts • So that you get accurately paid from your start time • So that you know any emergency code words 1.1.4 Explain the importance of attending the pre-event briefing: • At a typical briefing you will be informed on: • Crowd numbers expected • History of away fans (is it a local rival, has there been previous bad blood between fans etc?) • Terrorism update • Start/finish times • When gates/door (turnstiles) open • Emergency procedures – code words, evacuation points • Your role – walk down 10 mins, end of match pitch side • You may also be given identification and other items requi
