The most significant effects on society being the market society, a new economy by way of creating new financial avenues and strengthening government institutions, and the Second Great Awakening. The market society was created by the Market Revolution, prompting better commercial farming and the advent of the American factory system. The factory system thrived and created new jobs and profit, while the newly innovated commercial farming business provided jobs especially for those living in the Northwest.
